Spooky Trees

Class 8E have been using charcoal to create an imaginative tree scene. Last year we saw the devastation as bushfires ravaged the land, leaving blackened tree trunks and branches. We've been thinking about when the trees begin to sprout again and the new life it represents. The students were asked to think about this picture and then the contrast of the blackened trees against the light sky and the new green leaves on the blackened branches and what that would look like as a drawing.

Students first planned out their drawings with a grey lead pencil in their visual diaries, also testing the use of charcoal. When they were happy with their result they began transferring their design to a much larger A2 sheet of paper and continued to experiment with the use of charcoal.

Here are some of the final impressive designs.
