Educational River Cruise Excursion
My class’ second MyCity outing was an exciting one with a cruise along the Yarra River! The experienced captain provided interesting and informative commentary throughout the journey, detailing the history of the Yarra River as well as Melbourne’s riverside landmarks.
This enabled students to learn while they were taking in the sights of our beautiful city. We were offered affordable discounted rates, making an ideal school excursion.

STUDENT REFLECTION
My group decided to go on a river cruise for our excursion. We had a small group with only 3 people and on the day, Amanda couldn’t come so it was only me and Alex. We originally had a different route to get to the place but had to change on the day due to the charter bus. It took us less than an hour to get there and we used google maps and asked pedestrians for help. Once we got to the river cruise, we went to go to eat lunch at MacDonald’s and 7 eleven. We later went on the river cruise which was very fun. It was a little bit cold but most of us had our jumpers. Our tour guide showed us some very fun places in the city and told us the history of low bridges. We were able to stand outside on the deck where it was very windy and cold. It was beautiful in the city and I would definitely go again.

Melbourne Star Observation
This week we had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Year Nine excursion to the Melbourne Star observation wheel in Harbour Town. It was a great opportunity to meet the kids and get to know them outside the classroom!
We were really impressed with how respectful and attentive the kids were, putting their masks on when instructed to and being careful of the general public on the trams. It was a wonderful display of the Doncaster Secondary College values. The Melbourne Star was really informative and provided amazing panoramic views of the city, all the way across the bay and to the You Yangs!
It was fantastic seeing the kids look out for prominent Melbourne sites such as Albert Park Lake and the St Kilda Pier. This program offers so many wonderful opportunities for the students of Doncaster Secondary to get to know Melbourne and all the exciting treasures it has to offer! As members of the Wellbeing team, it was great to see the students getting along and working together to get through the city and make the most of their day. It is always exciting to see schools actively engaging their students and helping them learn real-life skills to ensure they are set up for their futures.
