Year 10 Work Experience Update
A reminder that all work experience forms need to be returned to the front office by Friday 14th May.
The Work Experience Arrangement Form needs to be signed by the employer, student, and parent and/or guardian once the placement has been organised. Students should then hand in the 'Work Experience Arrangement Form' and the 'Additional Covid-19 Work Experience Form' to the front office.
If a student needs to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the parent/guardian and employer must complete the 'Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form'.
If a student is required to stay at accommodation other than his or her normal place of residence while undertaking work experience, the parent/guardian is responsible for making suitable arrangements and must also complete the 'Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form'.
All forms can be accessed from our Careers Website:

Students are encouraged to attend ‘Work Experience Support’ or arrange a time to meet with Miss. Martin if they would like assistance organising their work experience placement. Work Experience Support runs every Wednesday at 1:30pm on Southern Level in the careers space.
The Information Presentation on Year 10 Work Experience is available for parents to access on the compass newsfeed. Students can also access this presentation in their ‘Innovate’ notebook and via the Compass newsfeed.
Construction Induction Training (White card)
The Construction Induction Training (white card) course will allow students to access construction sites where a site-specific induction is carried out. This course will provide students with basic Occupational Health and Safety knowledge that they will need prior to commencing work on construction sites. All Year 10 students who are completing work experience with a builder will need to have this qualification prior to work experience week in June. We are seeking expression of interest from Year 10 students who may be interested in participating in this training. This opportunity is recommended for students who are interested in a career within the construction industry and those who may consider participating in VET Building and Construction in Year 11 and 12. The course is conducted in one day (8:30am - 4pm) at Holmesglen Chadstone. If there is enough interest and numbers are viable, students will be transported to and from school on the day. Upon successful completion of a test, participants will be issued with a White Card from WorkSafe Victoria, which will be applied for on their behalf by Holmesglen. The date and cost are to be confirmed. Please note, there will be an additional cost that could range between $110 - $170 depending on the number of students that enroll in the course. Please express your interest by completing the Microsoft Form by Thursday 29th April.
Year 9 My Career Insights
'My Career Insights' is a program provided to Year 9 students in all Victorian government secondary schools. On Wednesday 26th May, all Year 9 students will participate in the Morrisby Profile during sessions 3 and 4. Students will complete a set of aptitude and interest questionnaires, which will help them to discover their unique strengths, preferences, and interests. These will be interpreted and analysed in the context of careers and educational choices, giving students suggestions for career areas, subject choices and educational pathways. The questionnaire sections that students complete are Verbal, Numerical, Abstract, Spatial, Mechanical and Aspirations, and Personality. During the week of 13th July - 16th July students will participate in a 30 minute one on one meeting with a Morrisby trained external careers advisor. The aim of this meeting is to assist students in understanding their results and demonstrate some of the interactive features of the Morrisby platform. The careers advisor will also outline career areas, subject choices, and educational pathways in line with the results from the Morrisby profile. Students will be able to access their Morrisby account and review their report in the future which will be a great resource as students start to engage in their career development journey. If your child does not participate in the program or does not complete the aptitude questionnaire and interest quiz, the Morrisby Profile Report will not be created for them and they will not receive a 30-minute meeting with an external career advisor.
An event on Compass will be published requiring parent permission for students to participate in the My Career Insights Program.
