UAC 2021-2022

On 1 April 2021, UAC will be sending a 4 digit UAC PIN to the email account every Year 12 student has listed with NESA.  They are asked to save the PIN.

Students who will be applying to university will need the PIN and their HSC Student Number as part of the application process.  Applications will open on 1 April 2021 but there is no need to rush in as the deadline for on-time applications is 30 September. More information will be given to Year 12 students next term and in Term 3.

Health Careers Forum

During Week 9, sixteen Year 12 students who expressed an interest in health and medical careers attended the 2021 annual Health Careers Forum organised by the University of Newcastle’s Department of Rural Health. The students were able to watch various scenarios which showed health professionals working as part of a team in hospital situations. Students were then to talk and ask questions to the presenters who included a dietitian, nurse, radiographer, physiotherapist, speech pathologist and occupational therapist.

Year 10 and Careers

During recent weeks I have spoken to Year 10 students on two occasions about career options and outlined some of the choices they will be making this year.  To assist both the students and their parents/guardians I showed them various sources of information including:

  • Careers@McCarthy website
  • Job Jump  and students registered with the site with the school’s name and password
  • 2021 Year 10 Careers Booklet which was given to all students who were asked to take it home to show parents.

Students who are considering leaving school at the end of Year 10 to seek employment (including apprenticeships and traineeships) or to study at TAFE are invited to participate in the 2021 JobSeeker Program which will be run during Terms 2 and 3. A small group of staff will be working with students to assist them to investigate options, participate in work experience, prepare a resume and attend talks by guest speakers.
