The COLD Write topic for last week was

Students from Year 3 to 6 wrote letters to Mrs Corcoran with suggestions about what we could improve at our school.

The Cold write topic for Junior School (Years 1 and 2) was "How to brush your teeth",  in line with the start of teaching Procedural texts next term. Hoping you see a great lot of clean, shiny teeth in Junior school.

Ongoing Assessment

Students across all year levels have been completing Learning Tasks which will provide a snapshot of achievement in the key areas of Mathematics, Reading and Writing. These learning tasks will be released throughout the year and will be accompanied by comments, goals and/or a RUBRIC showing student achievement.

You will notice that each Learning Task has a different type of assessment provided. The Mathematics – Place Value task has a RUBRIC and a learning goal attached. The writing task has a comment and learning goal attached.

Instructions for accessing the Learning Tasks via Compass will be released thorough Compass post.

Bandicoot at Botanic Gardens Cranbourne

In 2020, the Middle School investigated the Bandicoot that is protected in our local area. The Cranbourne Botanic Gardens played a major part of this investigation with a virtual presentation. This year they have revealed a bandicoot and a program for the public to access. Please see below for a great idea for the holidays.

Our great big bandicoot has come out of hiding at Cranbourne Gardens just in time for the autumn school holidays – come and say hi! Save the date for our second Big Bandicoot Backyard event, where you'll discover the simple things you can do to help protect precious, endangered Southern Brown Bandicoots. Pack a picnic, bring the family and spend the day taking part in expert walks and talks, creative workshops and choose your own adventure activities. Bookings for walks, talks and workshops will open on 31 March – be sure to mark it in your diaries to secure your place! https://bit.ly/2P0cOdj
