CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS

River Walk thoughts from 3/4

On Tuesday May 11 we went to the Diamond Creek. It was so much fun.  I got put in a group with my mum, she was the group leader.  The first thing we did was look at the water bugs.  I found it hard when we were going down to the creek, it was hard to get through the tall grass.

I think the most important thing we learnt was the pollution.  I think it is disgusting how much trash there was there.  I learnt a new word, it was flora, it means flowers.  I found it really challenging to find the water bugs, we only found a water worm.  The next thing we did was draw the nature around us.  It was fun and I was proud of myself when I drew a really good duck.  I can’t wait till next week.

I was proud of myself when I picked up the rubbish.  I found it really challenging seeing all the rubbish in the Diamond Creek.  The most important thing I learnt today was how much people dump rubbish on the ground.

I found it really challenging when I was doing vegetation because I had to spot nice different plant species.  I would like to learn more about why people litter.

A new word I learnt was flora.

The most important thing I learnt was the plant we call four leaf clover is actually a weed called creeping oxalis.

The question I have about yesterday's learning is "why do humans destroy the earth?".  I was proud of myself when I picked up lots of rubbish.

On May 11 3/4’s went to Diamond Creek.  We were split into groups to do some cool activities.  I was in a group with Max’s mum.  For my first group activity we tried to look for water bugs.  Sadly, we only found one.  It was really exciting finding that bug because we didn’t expect to find any.  Later on we saw some ducks, they were adorable.  We kept drawing the ducks and bugs.
