Melbourne Theatre Company's Ambassador program

Elliot Green is a current Year 11 Student lucky enough to have successfully secured a place in the Melbourne Theatre Company's Ambassador program. Meeting roughly once a month, MTC Ambassadors are offered the chance to extend their knowledge and experience by attending MTC productions, hearing from guest speakers, and sharing their responses to theatre with a group of like-minded young people. 2021 MTC Ambassadors will enjoy a blended virtual and face-to-face program, combining online Zoom workshops with theatre excursions in Southbank, to provide rare insight into the MTC production process.

Here Elliot fills us in on how the program has been so far:

“Last month, on a Zoom call with MTC Ambassadors, Izabella Yena (Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears, 2019) was a guest speaker for our second meeting. Speaking about how a production company builds a play, learning lines and even showing her personal notebook on character details and reminders, she taught us a large amount of what goes on behind the scenes of a show.

So far, we've talked for hours on end about the delights of theatre, our personal favourite shows, and what each of us are doing in regards to local theatre. It's been a blast so far!

This upcoming week, MTC will be holding another meeting! The special guest will be lighting designer Niklas Pajanti. We will be able to see his work when we watch Berlin by Joanna Murray-Smith on MTC Digital Theatre.

And later on, we will be finally meeting in person to attend a proper Melbourne Theatre Company performance, Lifespan of a Fact by Jeremy Kareken.”
