Principal's Report

A Great Start to 2021
As we head into the Term 1 break I would like to acknowledge our students, parents and staff for their ongoing support and efforts at ensuring our school continues to be a vibrant learning community. Over the course of the term it has been wonderful seeing our school come back to life with camps, excursions, sports days and so many activities that we missed last year. In particular, our student leaders who have played a significant role in leading lunchtime activities such as our Harmony/Multicultural Day, House Days, Valentines Days, Assemblies and much more. These events help connect our community and create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
Learning Conferences
It was an excellent turnout at our Learning Conferences on Wednesday, March 31. We had a total of 5150 bookings by families with an average of 3.72 bookings per household. These are impressive figures and highlight how much our community values education and the partnership between parents, students and teachers. Whilst the discussions are quite short, I hope they were rich and helped support our students in being the best learners and people for the rest of the year.
Capital Works Update – New VCE Centre
After a slow start due soil issues, some wet weather and sharp lockdown progress is being made. The builders are erecting the steel frame at the moment and are looking forward to putting the roof on over the school holidays.
The timeline for completion is currently the end of Term 3. Below are some pictures of the progress this term.
Please note that as part of the Capital Works Program at Brentwood there will be asbestos removalists at school on April 8. No students, staff or parents should come on site on this day.
Our Student Leaders
With the appointment of our Year 7 House Captains and SRC representative the student leadership team is now complete. I would like to congratulate all students who have been appointed to a leadership role at Brentwood this year. It is an honour and privileged to represent their students in these roles and the staff are looking forward to working with them across the year.
Congratulations to our Green Team who were highlighted in the CERES news recently. Here is the link: https://sustainability.ceres.org.au/spotlight-school-brentwood-secondary-college/
