IDAHOBIT

International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia

IDAHOBIT Day activities raised $427.90 for Minus18!

Thank you to the many students and staff who participated and donated on IDAHOBIT Day (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia) last week.

The BSC community  raised $427.90 on the day and donated this to Minus18,  an organisation that champions LGTBQIA+ youth.

Thank you to our SRC who planned and led the day's events - great fun and an important message!

In a show of bright, vibrant, rainbow hues, students wore their best clothes to mark the College’s annual celebration of IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia).

IDAHOBIT is a day where we acknowledge and celebrate the journey that many of our peers have been on towards acceptance. The year, students across the school joined in on our first ever IDAHOBIT Pride Parade.

Some students expressed how the parade made them feel accepted for the first time. For this reason alone, I’m so proud of Rainbow Room and SRC for making this possible.

It is also important that the school plays an active role in our local community in this respect. The SRC organises casual clothes fundraisers on significant dates like these to support larger causes.

On behalf of SRC and Rainbow Room, we thank you all for helping raise a huge $427.90 towards Minus18.

I hope this day sends out the loud, resounding message that inclusion, diversity, and kindness towards others are paramount.

I loved seeing everyone dressed up in rainbows to show their support on IDAHOBIT. On the morning of the day I was ecstatic, going through all my clothes for rainbow colours. It was so stisfying to see that many other people were just as excited as me!

This year the SRC hosted the College’s very first IDAHOBIT Pride parade. I was honoured and super excited to host this parade. With loud music, singing, dancing and cheering, students and teachers celebrated the day.

Being different and unique makes you human. No matter how you identify yourself, you are worthy of acceptance and love. Therefore on behalf of your SRC we are so proud of you, we love you and we have your back! We support and accept you no matter what. So please don’t be afraid to show yourself because you are beautiful no matter. Please remember that!
