Division AFL – 19th July 2023

On Wednesday 19th July, the St Joseph the Worker AFL team played off for positions 1st to 4th at the Division meet, held in Reservoir.

“First round game, we all played really well even though the scores weren’t what we hoped.  We did well defensively but just weren’t able to keep up.  For the second game that was for third place, the scores were closer, with 14-20 being the end result.  We played much better and continued to give our best effort!”  - Adam, Year 6

“We lost the first match against St Raphael’s Preston, 23-0. The third / fourth playoff was a closer match, 14-20, but cost us the third place position in the end.  But still very happy with how our team played on the day – we had fun!” – Thomas, Year 6

Division Netball – 20th July 2023

…the very next day, our Netball B team also played the same competition at Narrandjeri Stadium, Thornbury…

“St Joseph the Worker came 4th overall.  The first game was 5-24 loss against Preston PS, and the second match was the 3rd / 4th play off against another school, however we lost 11-14 against” – Rani, Year 6.

“The first match was pretty hard because our opposition team was very experienced.  The second match was ok and more on our level of play.  We were just unlucky we couldn’t keep up to match them for the 3rd place position”.  – Emily, Year 6

Congratulations to both the AFL and Netball teams – you displayed wonderful sportsmanship during your campaigns and played to the best of your abilities!  We are all so proud of your efforts and behaviour!

Soccer Clinics in PE

During PE classes we have celebrated the FIFA Womens World Cup by hosting a four week soccer clinic with Football Australia.  Students have been absolutely captivated by our enthusiastic coaches, Brian, Geogi and Peter, and the skills, drills, activities, games, joy and fun that they have shared with us!

I saw a smile on every single one of our students’ faces at least once during the last four weeks, but have heard resounding feedback about the sessions and the time spent with Brian, Geogi and Peter.  I’m so glad

that you’ve all enjoyed our soccer clinic!

Congratulations JLA!

A great big thank you to the families who completed their ball handling skills homework in JLA. I’ve noticed some great improvements during the Basketball Clinic last term, but also just basic coordination skills this term in PE!  All the practise counts!

Congratulations to the following students – your homework and improvements were amazing!
