Glasses for Kids
During the week of 24 – 28 July we had the team from Glasses for Kids on site screening, further testing and prescribing glasses as needed for our Prep to Year Three students. Over the week we had 145 students screened with a total of 34 students either prescribed glasses or referred for further testing at no cost to the families.
On Friday, our glasses arrived at school with much excitement from the students. It was great to see the reaction of students who were wearing glasses for the first time and to know how this will benefit their learning moving forward. The glasses came in lots of bright colours and each student chose what they liked best.
Glasses for Kids is an early intervention program which aims to remove vision impairments at a potential barrier to educational engagement. Glasses for Kids has visited 51 schools in the North Eastern Victoria Region since 2020, screening over 9,700 students and prescribing 2,250 pairs of glasses in Victoria.
We are excited to be part of this program and to know that Glasses for Kids will return to Kyabram P 12 College again in four years.
