3-4 Learning Community

Shelley Leahy

During Term 3 for our Year 3/4 Inquiry, students are focusing on Healthy Living. Through this unit of work, we have been focusing on supporting students to make decisions about their health, safety and wellbeing, as well as developing their knowledge, understanding and skills to build resilience.  It enables them to access and understand health information empowering them to make healthy, safe and active choices.  In addition, we will explore emotions and the contextual factors that influence students’ health, safety and wellbeing.

Our students will also learn about the behavioural aspects related to regular physical activity and develop the dispositions required to be active individuals.

We have many different experiences planned for our learning during this term, with more to come.

Last week, we had our first experience, and we were all enthusiastic about visiting Edis Park and our community garden, using the resources that they offer to our community.

Students walked to the park and completed the circuit while taking notes and observing their surroundings. After completing the exercise circuit, they posed and answered questions and used developed understandings to connect to our community's health opportunities. It was terrific to see the students stroll through the town to identify facilities that allow us to be active and physically healthy within our community.
