Year 10 Gold Coast Excursion

Excitement filled the air as the Year 10 students of Glen Innes High embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Gold Coast Recreation Precinct, nestled along the stunning Tallebudgera Creek. From August 15th to August 17th, our students had the opportunity to explore, learn, and bond like never before in this picturesque coastal paradise.

Day 1: Catapults and Imagination Take Flight

The adventure kicked off on Tuesday, August 15th, with a thrilling visit to the Gold Coast Recreation Precinct. The day was dedicated to catapult building and launching, allowing our students to put their engineering skills to the test. Amidst the beautiful natural backdrop, they learned teamwork, problem-solving, and the joy of watching their creations soar through the sky.

Day 2: Aerial Adventures and Water Exploration

Wednesday, August 16th, brought a day filled with aerial adventure and water exploration. Our students donned harnesses and helmets, ascending into the aerial platforms for a heart-pounding canopy tour. The breathtaking views of Tallebudgera Creek and its surrounding rainforest were a reminder of the beauty that lies just beyond our everyday routines.

Afterward, it was time to hit the water. Kayaking along the peaceful creek allowed students to connect with nature, appreciate its serenity, and develop their paddling skills. Evasion games added a dash of excitement, as they tested their stealth and strategy.

Day 3: Team Rescue and Beach Games

As our excursion neared its end, Thursday, August 17th, presented an action-packed day of team building and beachside fun. Team Rescue simulations brought out the heroes in our students, as they worked together to overcome obstacles and save the day. These activities not only fostered camaraderie but also taught invaluable life skills.

The beach games that followed were a perfect way to unwind and celebrate the end of a memorable trip. Sandcastles, walks and games created lasting memories of laughter and friendly competition.

Throughout the excursion, our students had the chance to grow personally, build resilience, and strengthen the bonds that make Glen Innes High a special community. The Tallebudgera experience was a testament to the incredible potential of outdoor education and its ability to shape well-rounded, confident individuals.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers and staff who organised and accompanied our students on this journey, as well as the Gold Coast Recreation Precinct for providing a magnificent setting for their adventures.

As our Year 10 students return home, they carry with them not just the memories of Tallebudgera but also the valuable lessons learned and friendships forged during this exceptional excursion. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this experience in their continued growth and success.
