Captains Corner

Welcome to term 3! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday. 

It is astounding to see everyone getting back to their routines and settling in for another amazing term at GWPS. We have many exciting programs and events occurring this term. 

In further detail:

• Yesterday 19th July, the VSSS Mass Choir had their rehearsal and it was a great success.
• The VSSS Mass Dancers have their Local Hub rehearsal on the 4th of August where they are trying their best to learn and harmonise eight different songs. You should be very proud of yourselves!
• We have the continuation of Maths Olympiad for Years 5 & 6 and John Monash Science School Mini Mathematicians on the 26th July. Our Year 5 & 6 students have been busy studying for this. Good luck everyone! 
• We also have quite a few incursions planned throughout the term including the Year 2 and 5 Indigenous studies incursion and the Prep Flying Booking incursion.
• A big event occurring this term is a whole school production on the 10th of August. Everyone is eagerly looking forward to this event where we all get a chance to showcase our dance & talent skills by working as a team. This is a great opportunity for the students to develop new skills together. We have all had an amazing behind the scenes experience which includes students preparing dances. Along the way many of us have also found new passions and connections through dance which ties into our Inquiry units. It’s going to be stunning to see all the students’ hard work, so don’t forget to get the tickets which were released last week!
• We all get excited when it comes to camps. Looking ahead, I’m sure that the Year Six students are thrilled and excited to go to Camp ADANAC on the 23rd of August. This is an amazing opportunity for students to build on their independence and responsibility skills, as well as deepen connections with their peers. They would also get to experience different activities which will set students up for secondary school through practising the use of a growth mindset.
