Creating Futures Together

Library News

This week it is Library & Information Week. It is no secret that libraries and library staff are sources of information. Providing access and guidance to the community through the now myriad of information channels at our disposal is one of the most basic and essential services that the Library provides.

Consider the following when you are researching:

Where does a piece of information come from?

Why does it appear in the way that it does?

Who made it?

Who owns it?

When was it created?

Who paid for it?

Library staff are here to help students increase their critical literacy skills and raise awareness of the available toolbox for understanding information sources of all kinds.

The advent of Chat GPT and other AI sources makes it even more important that students are able learn to question the credentials of the information they seek, and determine the accuracy, copyright and fair use of that information.

Library staff are trained to assist students in locating the right information.
