The Global Ambassador Program - written by student Charlotte Worona

Creating Futures Together

Dear Students, Parents, Teachers, Staff, and the entire Wheelers Hill Secondary College community,

I, Charlotte Worona am thrilled to introduce the dedicated and dynamic team that forms the backbone of our Global Ambassador Program for this year. Alongside me, we have the pleasure of working with Aziah Mathys, Sophie Burton, Kayla Berwick, Leah Kendrick, Layla Wright, David Gill, and Nery Soto. Together, we embark on a journey fuelled by passion, compassion, and a shared commitment to making a positive impact on both our school community and the wider world.

The Global Ambassador Program is a proactive initiative aimed at fostering cultural understanding, promoting global awareness, and nurturing a sense of responsibility towards our shared planet. Through thoughtful collaboration and meaningful dialogues with other schools in our region and beyond, we strive to create a world where diversity is celebrated, interconnectedness is emphasized, and positive change is embraced.

Our mission extends beyond the confines of our school walls. As students at Wheelers Hill Secondary College, we are wholeheartedly dedicated to removing all plastics not only from our own school canteen but also from canteens across the entire state. Our vision is to pave the way towards creating eco-friendlier and more sustainable canteens, setting an inspiring example for other educational institutions to follow.

Bringing about such a transformative change demands unwavering dedication and persistence. While initiating sustainability measures within our own school canteen is relatively simple, the scope of our mission transcends local boundaries. We believe in leaving a lasting impression on our wider community by advocating for eco-conscious practices on a broader scale.

The ripple effect of our endeavours goes beyond just the physical changes in canteens. Our mission has a profound educational impact as well. By advocating for sustainability and environmental consciousness, we foster a sense of responsibility and stewardship among students and staff alike. The lessons we learn and the actions we take resonate far beyond our time at Wheelers Hill Secondary College, inspiring a generation of responsible global citizens.

Our commitment to this cause is unwavering, and we are fuelled by the collective passion and determination of our team members. Every day, we find new ways to inspire each other, and our enthusiasm serves as a beacon of hope for a better, greener future. Together, we stand united, ready to embrace challenges and turn them into opportunities for growth and change.

By the end of this year, our goal is to have all plastics removed from school canteens across the state. This would not only make us more eco-friendly but also save a lot of plastics that end up in waterways and the ocean, killing many marine lives each year.

Sincerely,
