PHYSICAL EDUCATION
PROGRAM
Students are moving along with a heap of energy through their units of work. It's great to see the Collaboration and willingness to Accept Challenges as keys to student success these last couple of weeks.
SPORT
ROWVILLE DISTRICT BASKETBALL (SENIORS)
It was a massive day at Dandenong Stadium with 72 teams from across the distirct spread across 207 matches; action aplenty. Our 15 Lysterfield teams gave it their best on the courts with outstanding acts of team play, amazing results and a heap of fun to top it all off. We had teams spread from our Rookies (new to basketball), Future Stars (club basketballers) and our All Star teams (top boy and girl teams).
The energy across the day was amazing, students, parents and families roaming the courts cheering on friends and family. A massive congratulations to all the students for their efforts and team energy. To all the Lysterfield community thanks for your support whether you were at the courts or couldn't make it but assisted your child/ren in ensuring they came along. Finally a massive thank you to the staff, parents, brothers/sisters who volunteered to coach, score or both. We all really appreciate the time you gave to support the teams on the day, support for big events like this is imperitave as without it we can't run the events.
Huge congrats to a number of teams on some exceptional performances.
All Star Boys and Girls Team both qualified for the Knox Division finals in October. Our Boys took our the District title, while the Girls played amazing against some strong opposition to finish District Runner Up. Miss Emonson's Future Stars finished 3rd out of 35 teams in the group after 8 gruelling games, what an effort!
In addtion to these results:
- 5 out of 6 Future Star teams made the Quarter Finals (Top 8)
- Lysterfield topped the tables in 3 out of 4 Rookies pools, (also runners up in 3 pools)
- Team spirit was at an all time high!
ROWVILLE DISTRICT ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Next week on August 11th our Athletics Team will hit the track at Knox for the Distirct Athletics. Our team is ready to go with continued personal bests and going back to back in the overall standing.
If parents and families are available to come along and support that would be wonderful. Also we are in need of some more helpers for the day. If you can please let me know ASAP.
SQUAD TRAINING
We run numerous squad and sport specific trainings at recess/lunch times to support students with their school sport goals. Whether it is 4 x 100m Sprint Relay training, Discus/Shot Put/High Jump technique training or team sport training, it's all happening.
Recently, we have been fortunate that one of our parents and All Star Boys coach has been able to offer time to support our Boys Basketball Squad in advancing their skils, team play and strategic application in Basketball. The boys have the opportunity to train twice a week, the sessions are high intensity and looking at their faces the other day they absolutley loved it. In addition, the group are training with one eye on the Knox Division Finals in October with the goal to qualify for the Eastern Regional Finals and push the limit of how far they can progress in the School Sport pathway.
Big Thanks to Dwain Scott to providing time to support the boys with their sporting interest.
We are also looking forward to Danielle Rigg (Softball Vc Development Officer) attending school next week to support our Region bound Girls Teeball Team with some specialised training in preparation for the big comp.

I'll be doing my best to cover as many as possible throughout the year. If you know of achievements of past students at an elite level please contact me with details.
** IF YOU KNOW OF ANY LYSTER ALUMNI WHO ARE ACHIEVING ELITE RESULTS PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH DETAILS SO THEY CAN BE RECOGNISED AND CELEBRATED FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENT.
