Here are some Story Maps our students created in Semester 1 using Ozobots and popular Nursery Rhymes.

Greetings from Earth - Understanding data representation and cyber citizenship

Learning Intentions:

We are learning to interpret, understand and identify data.

We are learning to develop and use ways to build safe digital identities.

We are learning to identify the characteristics and behaviour of an ethical and global digital citizen.

In this unit, students will learn what it means to be a global digital citizen, exploring privacy and security, representation of data, and supporting students to understand what data is. Students will examine risk by considering images, sounds or text as data and using inference to see what information they could be sharing unintentionally. Once students have examined the risks and benefits of an online presence, they investigate how to keep personal data secure using different strategies. Students practise encoding and decoding messages using common cyphers. At the end of the unit, students demonstrate their understanding by sending a secure message using agreed coding conventions.
