Mr Churchyard and Mr Gibney

Term 4 started off the region stages of the School Sport Victoria Competition, with the winners from Term 3's Table Tennis and Basketball teams and Term 1's Cricket teams.

The Year 8 Cricket team narrowly lost to Frankston High School to miss out on a spot at the state competition.  The Year 7 Cricket Team missed out by 3 runs to Dromana in a close fort match. Congratulations to both teams, you conducted yourself excellently showing resilience and tenacity throughout.

The Intermediate basketball team had a tough day on court at the region stage at Dandenong Stadium, unfortunately coming up against some really strong opposition. The Year 8 basketball team suffered a similar fate. Both teams displayed strong resilience to keep working and showing up for one another. It was great to see the strong team spirit within the teams.

The Table Tennis teams visited Dandenong Table Tennis Association, where a number of teams came extremely close to progressing to the state stage of the competition narrowly missing out by a matter of points. The Year 7 boys and girls table tennis teams epitomized the enjoyment and camaraderie that accompanies sport, relishing spending the day with their peers. Despite narrowly losing out them remained high in spirits and full of enthusiasm to go again next year. The intermediate girls table tennis team were much the same, displaying excellent leadership and responsibility throughout the day.

We also had some excellent results in the division athletics with Ainsleigh Sapukotana qualifying in the 100m and 200m for the region stage of the competition. She ended up winning our region and going onto the state athletics championship to represent our district. A huge achievement to be recognised as one of the best sprinters in the state, we look forward to seeing her compete again next year. Pavneet Birring also set a new Casey Record at the Division stage of the athletics throwing 29.5m for discus. Paveneet also went on to represent our division at the region stage of the competition. Well done t both girls on an excellent effort.

With Term 4 all wrapped up for sport in 2023, we look forward to what's in store for 2024, with more opportunities for students to participate with the introduction of lunchtime House Sports.
