School Council Report

The School council met this week to discuss numerous ongoing matters affecting the school and community. As always, there have been some very positive discussions and decisions made. I am pleased to report that this year to date, the fundraising efforts from the school and parents committees have been highly successful, over and above previous years, especially due to the return of the Trivia night. Thank you to the PFA for organising and to all our families parents who have supported us thus far this year.

Looking ahead we have the Father’s day stall in September,  the October Farmers' market fundraisers as well as the highly anticipated November Fete, which will be held on Sunday November 12th.

The school council would also like to thank those families who have anonymously supported the school by way of voluntary payments to the Building/Grounds fund and the Library fund.

The most exciting news to come from this meeting is the recent application submitted by the school with an aim to receive a $300,000 Government grant toward a new “All abilities adventure track” to replace the existing. A conceptual design was created by former parent Kylie Blade. Although only conceptual and high level at this stage, receiving this grant would go a very long way to rebuilding this area.

  • Key highlights of the proposed adventure area included but are not limited to:
    • Shelter area
    • Indigenous sensory garden
    • New slides
    • DDA compliant.
    • Soft fall sandpit area.
    • New landscaping
    • Sloping / paths
    • Tee pee in the corner.

A special thank you to the parents and staff involved in generating the conceptual design and submitting the grant: Kylie Blade; Emily Stapleton; Charley Leader; Kate Medhurst; Julie Monk: Olivia Desormeaux; Grant Lebbink; Barry van Weeghel and Matt Forrest

We are hoping to receive positive feedback within a 4 month period. This is a very competitive grant process but the team mentioned above have submitted a very strong proposal. We’ll keep you all updated.

In closing, thank you to all the parents who have paid the school fees this year, which is at a very high level compared to the previous year.
