Primary Sports Report

Sport, Sport, Sport!

The Primary School sporting scene has been blessed with sunny skies and perfect weather in 2017. Students have been very excited and we have seen a great standard of competition and enthusiasm from all involved.

The Primary Swimming Carnival was a close finish with Perricoota narrowly taking home the silverware in front of Meninya.

RAS Primary Swimming in Wagga was the first of our many long trips to compete this year. Students’ effort and behaviour was exceptional and students all represented our school proudly.

Primary Athletics was a reversal of the Primary Swimming as Meninya exacted their revenge, edging out Perricoota for first place in the house trophy. This was our first event of the Year that involved all the Primary students.

The Primary Cross Country was a great success with an amazing turn out of parents to watch the students run. Students completed the long course strongly with some very close finishes. The following students won their events:

  • Kinder: Kira Ubukata(girl) & Alfred Cunningham (boy)
  • Year 1: Winifred Monaghan (girl) & Hugh McDonald (boy)
  • Year 2: Bella Kendrick (girl) & Aiden Anderson (boy)
  • 9 Year old: Clara Edgar (girl) & Albert Cunningham (boy)
  • 10 Year old: Jilly Jones (girl) & Mitchell McLean (boy)
  • 11 Year old: Isabella Crossman (girl) & Luke McDonald (boy)
  • 12+ Year old:  Brodie Jardine (girl) & Sam Edgar (boy)

As reported elsewhere in this newsletter, the 2017 Foundation Day sports demonstrated a great sense of community and the students thoroughly enjoyed the house based games.  It was also extremely enjoyable for the Primary to have Year 12 students running the events and demonstrating their leadership skills.  The Year 12 students gained a lot of fun from it too!
