Prayers please

We keep in our prayers the families of Piriyarathan and Jhaanavi Karunapalan and Nayani Navaneethan for the passing of their grandmother in Sri Lanka.

We continue to pray for any families in our community who have lost loved ones or are suffering illnesses.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Planet Ark Tree Day 2019

On Friday Mrs Munro’s HSIE class travelled to Barnabas House on Kookora St Griffith to plant trees as part of Planet Ark’s National School Day planting.

Barnabas House is a short term crisis accommodation facility providing much needed assistance to those who need housing support during tough times.

We had 50 minutes to plant 40 shrubs from beginning to end! With everyone’s help we dug the holes, took the shrubs carefully out of the seedling tray, placed the seedlings into the holes and then back filled them. We added mulch and three bamboo stakes with a tree guard to each planted shrub. We then watered the 40 plants in and packed up the equipment.

What did we learn from this activity?

We learnt to work as an efficient  team as there wasn’t much time.

We also learnt that not everyone is as lucky as we are.

And we learnt that it doesn’t take much to change places for the better.

A big thank you to Griffith Bricks and Pavers for donating the mulch and to Coleambally Saltbush Nursery for donating the plants. And to Mr Bock for driving us!
