A great start to the year in the Resource Centre
Over the past few weeks it has been impressive to see our student cohort using their Resource Centre so well.
Mornings are always buzzing with friends meeting up for the day ahead, plans being discussed for the many and varied activities running in the college, last minute printing or homework task jobs being completed or a glimpse at the ABC News24 channel. Teachers are often seen passing through preparing their lessons and catching up with students.
Study periods for year 12 and students on reduced loads are times for a quieter and more concentrated approach to learning. At this time the Silent Study, the Collaborative study or the Vivi booths are highly sought after.
English MyReading classes are scheduled in G1-17 and the adjoining Reading Lounge. Students have been enthusiastically logging their first books and checking the Word Count for their Year level and Houses.
Recess and lunchtime the library hums with groups of students working in the main classroom area on computers or in the dedicated study areas. The back of the library is filled with groups taking advantage of the opportunity to play games, read or just chill in the friendly environment offered at beak times. Chess is another popular pastime during breaks.
After school students work quietly on homework assignments or extra study, particularly on Thursday afternoon when the hours have been extended for Homework Centre until 5.30. Miss Hatzis has plans for workshops and further tutoring opportunities which will be advertised soon.
It is rewarding to see our students making such fantastic use of the facility we provide.
The State Library of Victoria
A huge range of free activities related to our curriculum or just of general interest are run by our State Library.
Many of these require early registration, especially for activities in the school holidays.
This one looks excellent!
