What do the Hulk, Wonder Woman, the McCarthy Environmental Council and the McCarthy

Library have in Common? Book Week!

The theme for The Children's Book Council of Australia's (CBCA)  Book Week in 2019 was ‘Reading is my Secret Power’ and reading does indeed give us secret powers: the power to walk in the shoes of others through their stories; the power to escape into other worlds; the power to improve vocabulary and imagination… the list goes on.

We had cut-outs of the Hulk and Wonder Woman in the library and masks of them and other super heroes for students to take selfies.  A big shout-out to Mr Saban and Mrs Maxworthy for posting their selfies to Instagram.

At the College Assembly in Week 5, members of the McCarthy Environmental Council gave a presentation to the students of how the library is going green too. Thank you to James Smith, Sara Lui, Peter Iuso and Stephanie Koukides for doing this.

There was a display in the library of Book Week's prize winning books. Students browsed at lunchtime and some English classes visited the library with readings of some of the award winning books as well as super hero activities at lunchtimes.

Thanks to Mrs Nolan and Mrs Wieland for all their hard work and the teachers and students who supported our Book Week activities.
