Wonder 2022

Wonder Launch
There was an exciting buzz across the College last Thursday as our new Wonder Program launched across Years 7- 9.
This innovative program has a focus on design thinking, where students are encouraged to utilise a range of metacognitive skills, ultimately designing a prototype for a specific audience. For Term 1, the driving questions which will guide the students through this process have an emphasis on Killester’s sense of community - what does it involve to be a member of the community? how are the values of the community evident in life after Killester? and how can the Killester community give back to those around them?
But before starting this journey, students were encouraged to think creatively - a key skill to be developed through the program - by designing a brand new game using a tub full of different odds and ends. Just like the astronauts on the Apollo 13 mission, they quickly adapted and found ways to make a square peg fit into a round hole.
Our Year 7s were joined by the VCAL students who created a Scavenger Hunt around the campus, ensuring that the newest members of our Killester community had fun whilst learning how to navigate their new surroundings.
As we go through the program we will continue to celebrate the crazy ones; the rebels; the troublemakers; and the ones who see things differently. For, as Steve Jobs (Apple) said: “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
The excitement has only just begun.
