On Tuesday we welcomed back some of our Class of 2021 along with special guests for an awards ceremony recognising our high achievers from the past 12 months.
The event was live-streamed to our entire school and provided an opportunity to hear from our College Dux, Jennifer Roache and our VCAL Excellence Award winner, Luke Frith.
Both made exceptional speeches and spoke with passion and gratitude about their experiences at Trinity and encouraged students to find their areas of interest, respect their teachers and to make the most of their time at school.
Luke has commenced an apprenticeship with Colac Otway Shire in the Parks and Gardens team, while Jennifer is enjoying a gap year before pursuing further studies - most likely in her area of interest - performing arts.
For the first time in 2021 our major awards were structured around The Trinity Difference where students were recognised for excellence in the areas of Character, Knowkledge and Skills with an overarching focus on effort. Our major awards for each year level are now known as The Trinity Difference Award.
Award winners for all year levels in this major category were presented, along with outstanding VCE study score awards, several scholarships and community awards.
Seven students were honoured for their VCE study scores beyond 40, which places them in elite company across the state: Nadene Brown (English 41), Kelsey Gunsser (Health and Human Development 40), Layla Holt (Psychology 40), Kiana McVilly (Media 42), Ryon Qu (Physics 40), Jennifer Roache (History 44), and Chalise Van Eekelen (VET Sport and Rec 40).
Saul Kavenagh was chosen to be part of the VCE Top Class in Music based on his solo performance examination.
We thank special guests and sponsors for attending the event, including Colac Otway Shire Mayor Cr Kate Hanson, Fr Michael O'Toole and and Fr Kevin Arundell, Rotary Club of Colac West's Peter Liepins, former College Principal Tim O'Farrell representing Catholic Education Office Ballarat, and Margaret Riordan representing son and Member for Polwarth, Richard.
We hope the way our current and former students involved in yesterday's ceremony approach their studies inspires others to also strive to be their best.
