ANZAC DAY COMMEMORATIONS

St. Joseph’s School students have been invited by the Glen Innes RSL Sub-branch to take part in the 2022 ANZAC Day commemorations.  Our involvement is as follows:

  1. Dawn Service: The School Captains, SRC members and any other students along with their parents are invited to participate in the ANZAC Dawn Service at the Cemetery, which commences at 5.30am on ANZAC Day, Monday, 25th April
  2. ANZAC March:  All students are also invited to participate in the ANZAC Day March which generally starts at 11am on ANZAC Day, Monday, 25th April.  The students will  meet the teachers at the Post Office at 10.30am and then march with the community to ANZAC Park.  Following the commemorations at ANZAC Park, students will be signed out and collected by their parents and are invited to share in a ‘ Sausage Sizzle’ hosted by the Glen Innes RSL Sub-Branch.

Please complete the COMPASS event notice form to indicate if your child will be able to attend.  The Compass Notice was issued on Tuesday this week. Traditionally we always have a great representation from our school.

VISITING SCHOOL PERFORMANCE - ‘SNAKE TAILS’ - Australian Reptile Display

On Thursday, 7th April (Week 11-next week)  there will be a visiting school performance called 'Snake Tails'.  This visiting performance is related to the Key Learning Areas of Science, Personal Development / Health and Geography.  Through this performance students will learn about the uniqueness of Australian reptiles and safety in the bush.  There will be an Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 presentation and a separate Stage 2 and 3 presentation.

Note: there is no charge.  In the current climate, the school will cover the full cost of this performance for each child.

MOTHER'S DAY STALL

In Term 2, week 2 we will have a stall selling items for children to purchase for Mother’s Day. The prices range from $1.00 to $6.00. A flyer displaying these items is on todays newsletter and a reminder flyer will be sent home early next term.

The children always enjoy making their own purchases. However, you may like to make it easier for them by selecting what they would like and include a note and appropriate money in an envelope which they can bring with them.

There will be a limit of 2 items per child  so that everyone has a chance to buy something special for their mum.

The stall will be held before school at at morning tea on Monday 3rd May (Stage 2), Tuesday 4th May (Early Stage 1 and Stage 1) and Wednesday 5th May (Stage 3).

UNIFORMS

The change of school uniform from summer to winter or winter to summer is not always associated with the school term. Our uniform policy states that there will be a two week phase in period called by the school. We do this to cater for the change in seasons. During this time students are ask to be in full uniform either summer or winter, not a mixture of both.

Please be aware that if your child is participating in ANZAC Day events FULL summer uniform is required on the day.

Students are able to wear either summer or winter uniform depending on the weather, from MONDAY 4th April until MONDAY 9th MAY when all students will be required to wear full winter uniform. If you have any problem with your child wearing the uniform please contact the office as soon as possible to discuss the matter further.
