From the Principal's desk

Together we learn, lead and achieve
Dear Monty South Community,
2021 has been quite an extraordinary year! Despite the obstacles and challenges, we have achieved and celebrated many great things and we all should be very proud of our achievements! I would like to thank all those who have contributed to Montmorency South Primary School over the past year-parents, community members, staff and students.
I would particularly like to express my appreciation to our School Council for their support and advice throughout the 2021 school year. Thank you, Marcus Walsh (President), Shayley Holland (Vice President), Vanessa Edwards (Treasurer), Naomi Ivers, Mitchell Dintinosante, Jane Plunkett, Nghiem Tran, Danielle Lee, Cecelia Ramsdale, Emma DiPietro and Steve Gartner.
I would also like to thank the Parents and Friends Committee for their continued commitment. Despite many of their fundraising activities being cancelled due to Covid, they still met regularly and planned activities wherever possible. The fact they do it with such a small group of committed parents is inspiring. If you would like to join the P&F team in 2022 they would welcome your commitment in any way you can – big or small.
We are one big team here at MSPS. I really believe the best way children achieve their potential and best outcomes is when parents and the school work together.
I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful contributions made by parents and staff at Montmorency South Primary School. It is only with this effort and sense of community that our school continues to be the learning community it is widely acknowledged as being.
To the Executive Team, Naomi Ivers (Assistant Principal), Monique Rankin (Leading Teacher), and Paula Hogan (Business Manager) – they have been wonderful in their consistent and unwavering support they give to myself and the staff during the year.
Finally, a huge thank you to Paula Hogan (Business Manager), Victoria Hall, Amanda Ringin, Kirstie Lay, Robyn Hamilton and Jenny Vergers. The hard work of our office staff never goes unnoticed as they keep the school running smoothly, always with a smile on their faces.
It is an honour and a privilege to be a part of the great team at Monty South and I look forward to leading this amazing school in 2022!

A large amount of lost property items was collected after school yesterday. The remainder will be available at the office today (Friday 17th Dec) and during the first week of school next year. Farewell Year 6
We, of course, say farewell also to the Graduating Class of 2021. On Wednesday night, at the Graduation Ceremony, we had the opportunity to appropriately acknowledge their individual and collective contribution to our school. These students have represented the school so well during their time here. However, it is now time for them to enter the next exciting phase of their lives – secondary school and their emerging teenage years.
We wish them all the best for their secondary schooling and hope that their futures are happy and successful. The next years of their lives will be full of new adventures, new teachers and new friends. We hope that they remember to study hard and be kind to their parents! A HUGE thank you to the Year 6 staff Andy Glembin, Rebecca Buckley, Hayley Hender, Jess Head and Andy Coates who put in so much effort to create a memorable graduation ceremony.

This evaluation, and the recommendations, will form the basis of our school review next year. A report of this day will be tabled at 2022 Education and School Council meetings.

Semester Two reports are now available on Compass. I know you will find these to be most informative and a celebration of what your child has achieved this year. Thank you to the teaching staff who have spent much time making sure the reports and the portfolios are an accurate picture of your child’s learning throughout the second half of 2021.
