Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s newsletter. We will be talking about the Grade 5/6’s excursion to REPLAS.

On Week 4, the year 5/6s  went on an exciting excursion to REPLAS, a company that uses recycled plastic to make outdoor furniture.

The workers at REPLAS taught the 5/6s how plastic is slowly ruining the Earth. For example, people are throwing away many pieces of rubbish onto the ground, which end up in the ocean and take a long time to decompose. This is how we are affecting our Earth and we must stop doing this by recycling, by reducing waste and vehicle pollution, and by refusing plastic whenever possible! Help our world by doing these things and you just might be one of Earth’s heroes!

In STEM we have been learning about sustainability and what we can do to protect our planet and our natural resources. The 3/4 students are going to be in charge of setting up a St Bede’s Garden and have started measuring and designing the space ready for planting next week. The Prep and 1/2 students will also be helping, and have started planting some seeds which will be transferred to our garden once they have become seedlings in a few weeks.
