Performing Arts New

Congratulations Zack!

Congratulations to talented Year 3 student, Zack Poole (pictured performing in WPS’s “Aladdin Jr”), on being cast in the lead role of ‘Oliver’ in YABC’s production of “Oliver Jr”! This exciting production is full of classic songs like “Consider Yourself”, “Food Glorious Food”, and “Oom-Pah-Pah”, and perfectly showcases the talents of a large ensemble cast – including Zack’s older brother and past WPS student, Cameron, as a feature performer.

Oliver! Jr. is a one-hour version of the original production of Oliver! and will be performed by a youth cast of 9 to 21 year-olds at the Meat Market, North Melbourne, from January 13 – 22.   Zack will be performing at the following times: Friday 12/1 at 11am, Sat.12/1 at 2pm, Sun.15/1 at 5pm, Tues. 17/1 at 2pm, Thurs. 19/1 at 11am, Fri. 20/1 at 2pm and Sun. 22/1 at 2pm.

Tickets are now on sale and selling fast – don’t miss out on supporting Zack!

VSSS Dancers to star on TV

If you missed out on seeing our fabulous Year 6 students dancing in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular at John Cain Arena back in September, you won’t want to miss seeing them on TV in a special broadcast on Channel 7 Melbourne on Sunday, December 17 at 7pm! The broadcast, with special behind the scenes highlights, will also be live streaming nationally on 7plus for 30 days from the broadcast date.

Make sure you mark this in your festive calendars!

 Carols on the outdoor stage

This week in Performing Arts, our WPS students have been enjoying singing some festive songs in preparation for the outdoor carols evening on Tuesday, December 13th. While some of the younger students were quick to point out that November was “a little too early to be thinking about Christmas” – they did agree that with only three weeks until our next whole school performance, it might be a good time to start! Kevin is already kindly sharing his bush band skills with the whole school, so this year every student can join in the Bush Band finale.

We have many wonderful musicians and singers amongst our community who are all warmly invited to share a song or accompany the students with any performances on our casual bush stage. If you are one of these talented parents, carers, grandparents or friends and you would like to perform in our Christmas celebration, I’d love to hear from you!
