Grade 2

Term 4 has been an exciting term so far, which has seen the students coming to school full of energy and enthusiasm. In the next few weeks, the students will get to enjoy the School Fete and they will continue practicing their dance moves for the School Production later this term. We hope all students enjoy their last Term in Grade 2 before they move on to Grade 3.

English

In English, we have been learning about the structure and features of persuasive texts. We have been using what we have learnt while reading persuasive texts to assist us with our writing. Students have brainstormed their own opinions and arguments which we are beginning to include in our persuasive writing pieces. The Grade Two teachers have been quite impressed with the students’ creative arguments we are seeing within their persuasive writing pieces. As we get closer to Grade 3, please continue to read with your child every night and practice their spelling words.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, we have been learning a new game each week to help with the students' mental computation. You might like to ask your child about some of the new games they have learnt this term, and play them at home. Some of these games include; 5 Moves to 100, Addition Mission, Noughts and Crosses and Subtraction Mission. The students have explored the concepts of Mapping, the four operations and money so far this term. The Grade Two teachers have been impressed with the effort and growth mindset demonstrated by all students as they work hard to achieve their learning goals.

We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and we can’t wait to see as many families as possible at the School Fete.

Warm regards,

The Grade 2 Team
