Dear Parents and Carers,
Class teachers have commenced writing students' Semester 2 Reports. Reports will be issued to families on Friday December 9. This reporting cycle focuses on the learning outcomes that are programmed for Semester 2 only. Reports are a snapshot of student progress at this point in time.
Today some staff took part in the Diocesan Religious Education Audit, focusing on the teaching of RE in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2. Anna Fraser, Leah Summerell and Emma Martin joined with other schools throughout the Diocese to evaluate the teaching of RE inline with Diocesan and NESA requirements. Audits for teaching and learning in English Stage 2, PDH/PE Kindergarten and Stage 1 and Science and Technology Stage 2 have already been completed this year. Again, the school's work in these areas was measured against Diocesan and NESA requirements. Audits are a compulsory requirement of NESA and a great way to measure our success in these areas. 2023 Audits will include Stage 3 Mathematics, HSIE (History and Geography) Kindergarten and Stage 1, Creative and Practical Arts Kindergarten, Stage 1 and Stage 3 and PDH/PE Stage 2.
As we near the end of the year, it is important that we maintain our focus on uniform and wearing the agreed uniform to school each day, including the correct shoes, socks and hat. The wearing of school uniform promotes a sense of belonging for students and creates a positive identity for the school community. School uniforms also contribute to the personal safety of students by allowing easier recognition of students inside the school and in the community. On Tuesday November 22, the Diocesan photographer will attend St Michael's to take promotional shots to be used in advertising and on our website. Please ensure that your child/ren present at school in the correct uniform on this day, including correct shoes and socks.
A new topic has been released to SchoolTV this week. SchoolTV can be accessed on our website via the SchoolTV tab. This month's edition is ‘Bullying’. Unfortunately, no school is immune to the impacts of bullying. It is important to have a whole school approach to anti-bullying behaviours and empower parents with the confidence to support a child experiencing it. This edition outlines practical strategies in how to identify bullying behaviours and how to manage them without overreacting. There are many and varied topics available on SchoolTV. If you have not accessed this resource before, it's well worth a look.
The P&F Association is scheduled to meet at school on Tuesday November 22 commencing at 5.30 p.m. in the staffroom. Please come along and contribute to the discussion regarding school happenings. I look forward to seeing you then.
Warm Regards,
Bronwyn Underwood
