From Principal Steve - Transition Program

Dear parents and carers,

At Brighton Primary we know the importance of preparing students for change. Our Transition Program helps students to understand what to expect as they progress from kindergarten to school, between year levels and from primary to secondary school.

The transition process occurs at each year level as students move through the school. We also coordinate with local secondary schools to help our Grade 6 students prepare for the next stage of their education.

This year our future prep students and current students will participate in 3 sessions as part of our Transition & Orientation Program.

Our Transition mornings are designed to:

  • Set the scene for change to the next year level
  • Provide students with an overview of learning and key milestones they can expect to encounter
  • Get students used to different areas of the school
  • Work with different teachers
  • Please note, student groupings for these sessions do not reflect 2023 classes or teachers

Our Orientation afternoon is designed to:

  • Let students meet their 2023 classmates - as much as possible class lists are finalised by this day
  • Where possible, meet their 2023 classroom teacher
  • Engage in activities that will help them prepare for the following year

Key Dates for our Term 4 Transition & Orientation Days

  • Wed 16th November: Transition session #1 9:50 am – 10:30 am*
  • Wed 23rd November: Transition session #2 9:50 am – 10:30 am*
