STEM Learing and Digital Safety Help

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and well-being of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

STEM Learning

Some exciting things going on in the senior school as we finish our final term of STEM for this year.

Year 5 got to meet some of our reptiles this week as we look to ways in which we can help protect the endangered turtle species around the globe. One of the ways we can do this is to join the Take 3 movement. This means taking 3 items of rubbish from the beach when you leave, even if it isn't yours.

If you help with this, please capture a picture and share it with us. We'd love to see how you're making a difference.

Year 6  students are gearing up to deliver their final recipe for the OzHarvest FEAST program, addressing food waste issues in Australia. It all culminates in a culinary contest much like junior Masterchef over the next two weeks. Keep an eye out for pictures of their incredible creations coming up in the next few issues.

Digital Safety

Navigating a world that is connected online as a parent can often be overwhelming. In Australia, we actually have the world's first government agency dedicated to keeping people safer online, the eSafety Commissioner.

They have a great number of excellent resources to support educators and parents in feeling informed about digital safety as well as how to start conversations with children.

One such example is the eSafety Guide which runs through all of the popular games and apps used by many of our young people, how they work, and crucially, the dangers within.
