Year 1 Unit

On Thursday 3rd November the Year One students ventured out on our first proper excursion to Scienceworks. We had a busy day full of exploring and learning all things science!

We got to explore the Scienceworks exhibits - we saw ideas for the future, compared our athletic ability to sports stars and explored the amazing Illuminate exhibition where we got to play with using light and sound in different ways.

We participated in a session with a Scienceworks instructor where we used torches to create shadows and shapes and explored different ways to make coloured light. We even discussed how to split light into the different colours.

It was a great day and the teachers were very proud of how well we represented the school.

  • I liked the Illuminate part. It was all glowing and I like glowing stuff- Millie JU6
  • I liked Illuminate because of the mirror maze- Ed JU6
  • I liked the wheelchair races and the shadow play because you got to work together- Hazel JU6
  • I liked when we had to make the night lights with the torch - Henry JU5
  • I really liked going through the Pump Station and making the shadows with the lights - Heidi JU5
