Cut the Dread

This Saturday, November 19th, local young men John Crozier, Jarrod McQuade and Lucas Paladino will be saying a big goodbye to their luscious locks! They will be braving this bald new look to raise money for youth mental health!

John, Jarrod and Lucas have all had dreads for about 10 years now! The decision to shave them was a shock to many, but a welcome one (especially to their partners). When they decided they would do it as a fundraiser, nobody was shocked as it is the embodiment of these boys to be kind, caring and selfless.

They have set the goal of raising $20,000 for local suicide prevention charity, Youth Live4Life. Three days away from the dreaded day and they have nearly reached half their goal!

With 16 of every 100,000 deaths in the Macedon Ranges being from suicide, it was an easy decision to choose Youth Live4Life – an organisation that started right here in the Macedon Ranges! In raising money for Youth Live4Life, the boys hope to help reduce stigma, support education and increase mental health resources available for local young people.

Mental health and suicide are deeply personal topic for many people, but especially these boys. If they can help just one young person speak up and find support, then they know that it will have been worth the big shave.
