Languages

A huge thank you to Barbara Uecker, our German Language Assistant, who has now returned home to Germany. Barbara worked with German classes from Years 7 to 12 throughout 2022. She has been an immense help to the other language teachers, has greatly supported to the learning of students, and has encouraged their passion for languages.

Good luck to our fantastic Year 12 French and German students who have now graduated from BHS and will soon be completing their final languages exams!

To Isabel, Karla, Kendall, Cameron, Elouise, Baljaan, Amelia, Angelica, Sam, and Kayla - we wish you all the very best for your exams and future endeavours!

Year 11 & 12 French students on the Year 12’s last day of classes

A brief summary of the great year of German in the 2022 Year 11 class!

This year has been great since we were finally able to properly be back in the classroom and engage with German face-to-face. It was especially great being able to meet with our language assistant weekly to practice conversational oral skills.

In late term 2, the year 11 German students (alongside our year 9 and 10 peers) travelled to the city where we viewed a German movie about the berlin wall. The viewing was at KINO cinema and was in celebration of the German film festival. In term 3, the year 11 class had the opportunity to cook German pretzels during class. It was interesting and delicious!

We have covered many interesting topics this year, my favourites being fairy-tale writing and the Berlin wall. Fairy-tale writing was loads of fun because it was creative and tested my ability to express unique thoughts in German.

German has been one of my favourite subjects this year. I have learnt heaps and I have certainly enjoyed it along the way.
