Principal's Report

Art4All

Wow! How enjoyable was Art4All? I hope that whichever days you visited, you got to soak up the atmosphere and feel the vibe of such an uplifting event. It was so wonderful to open our gates to the broader community and to have people enjoying this weekend, which is integral to the school’s fabric.

On Friday night, the gym building was as busy as I can recall seeing – forget about the Black Friday sales, this was the time to get in early and purchase a preferred piece of artwork or item from the gallery store! Also on Friday, we were treated to performances from our choir and concert band, perfectly setting up the scene for the next two days.

Saturday night was Gala Night; a chance for people to dress up, catch up, eat and drink up, and to find out the winners of various art awards. Year 6 students had the responsibility of looking after our gala guests by waiting on them with the various canapé delights, also prepared by our students (with some parent assistance!)

Sunday was Family Day. Whilst we all hoped for the best in terms of weather, the weather gods really looked after us ensuring that the day could go ahead as planned. There was something happening around every corner; ArtZone activities, a silent disco, chalk graffiti, dance classes, clay activities, delicious food, and of course the puppetry performance by The Bunk Puppets . Also around every corner was a parent volunteering, helping to make sure that the day ran smoothly.

Thank you EVERYONE. A special mention to our coordinators, Corrin McNamara and Rachael Hough, who were well supported by the next level of coordinators, plus the many, many others who volunteered in some shape or form. We hope that you were all able to take your foot off the gas last week and have some time to relax.

We look forward to sharing with you the total amount of money raised and how it will be spent before the end of the year.

Student Leadership Speeches

During the last few weeks, Year 5 have been learning about leadership and the qualities of a good leader, and have been given the opportunity to nominate themselves for the role of Community Leader or Specialist Captain. I have been impressed by how seriously the students have taken this opportunity and as well as the thought and consideration they have given to their speeches.

This afternoon the students presented their speeches to Year 4 and Year 5, who then cast their votes. The elected Community Leaders and Specialist Captains will be announced to the school in the next newsletter.

Election Day Sausage Sizzle

It seems as though every week we are putting out a call out for volunteers! That is the nature of term four, always lots happening. This Saturday we are a polling station for the State Election and will be hosting a sausage sizzle. It is great that most of the spots have been filled, although we are after a few more volunteers, particularly for pack-up at 1 – 2pm. Please sign up if you can help!

A thank you to Aldi, who are donating the sausages, bread and condiments for the event, meaning that there will be increased funds raised that will go towards our literacy program, specifically for the purchase of new home readers for our students.
