From the Principal

This will be the last newsletter for the year as we wind down to the holidays. After 3 years of COVID, we have managed through yet another complex year in relation to staffing and illness. Every endeavour has been taken to ensure that consistency in the classroom for students is maintained. I am very happy to report that moving into 2023, we are fully staffed.

We farewell Mrs Cathy Steer who takes up a new permanent position at Orange High School. This also means we will be saying goodbye to Teddy, our Therapy Dog who has been a wonderful companion and support to many students. We will be working on getting a new therapy dog, as they bring many wonderful attributes to the school. We wish Mrs Steer all the very best with her new adventure.

We welcome new permanent teacher from Sydney, Mrs Nikki McCallum and congratulate Mr Matthew Tabbernor for successfully applying for a permanent position at our school. Five Support Officers have successfully been reclassified to SLSO, Health with a further 6 positions pending. This will mean that our team will be compensated for all their hard work.

Next year we will also welcome new temporary staff Mrs Lindy Summerton, teacher and Mr Daniel Stein, Ms Naomi Hodge and Ms Taylor Collins, School Learning Support Officers.

These last few weeks have been exciting with the announcement of our Student Leadership team for 2023 (see Spotlight On), thePresentation and Award Ceremonies, Graduation evening and the Ex-Services Christmas Party. We have also had the back shed finalised and the new Multi-Purpose Centre (OOSH and Suspension Centre) arrive on site.

Teachers have been busy finalising academic reports and these will be sent home Thursday. I thank them for the time and effort put into ensuring that these documents show you what your child can do and what they will be working towards in their learning. I have read through all the reports and I was very pleased to see the progress students are making in our school.

Year 12 finished 13 years of schooling last week and it was wonderful to celebrate with them at the Graduation ceremony on Thursday evening. Everyone had a fabulous time and I wish them all the very best for their future endeavours.

Special thanks to our P&C members and ASSETs team who meet regularly throughout the year to support the school. The P&C recently donated $1000 from the raffle held at school, to the Eugowra P&C and also donated 2 defibrillators for use in our school. The work these volunteers do for our school is greatly appreciated.

Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday with family and friends. Please see the For Your Diary section at the end of the newsletter for when your child/ward returns to school next year.
