Dio Cricket

In our last cricket games of the year at a well grassed Harris Park on a beautiful sunny day our girls and boys Year 7 to 10 team took on McCarthy Catholic College in both games. Our girls team batted first and compiled a healthy 120 off 20 overs due mainly to a great knock of 45 from Emily Simpson. Unfortunately McCarthy overhauled that score in the 19th over despite some accurate bowling from Chelsea Curry, and Emily Hallman. Emily Simpson was a terrific captain and I daresay has inspired a number of our girls to continue on with cricket. Our boys team also batted first and compiled an incredible 220 0ff 20 overs thanks to a big opening partnership that saw Charlie Foster salute the crowd with a century and Jacob Miller chipping in with a half century. That score proved too much for McCarthy who fought hard but were all out for 160. Darcy Lawler, Jarius Webster and Nick Miller bowled well and Charlie capped off a man of the match performance with 2 wickets. I would like to say that our cricketers played with enthusiasm and great respect for the opposition and the game itself.
