Business Management Koonung Day stalls

The two Year 11 Business Management classes spent much of Term 3 planning for and preparing a small business to operate on Koonung day.

This involved a concept for groups to agree on then preparing a business plan (involving such things as marketing plans involving most of the 7Ps (price, product, place, promotion, people, process), advertising, logo and slogan and creating operational and financial plans for their stall. They also had to review how they went after the actual sale day and identify how they could have made things different.

A large variety of stalls operated on the day. They included drink sales, egg and bacon rolls, ice creams, sausages in bread, pizzas, fairy floss, bubble tea, muffins, donuts, dumplings, smash brothers video gaming and cookie dough.

Students had to self-fund the activity, although they were told at the commencement that they would be reimbursed for expenses. Any profits would be donated to a charity to be determined by the class.

It was a highly successful day with every group making some profit. Between both classes there was nearly $1,000 able to be donated to MND Australia, Beyond Blue and the Cancer Council of Victoria.

The lead up to the day was well organised by all groups. All students are to be congratulated on the collaboration put into the tasks. It was an enjoyable day, but did cause some stress at times with huge demand, long queues and products selling out more quickly than expected.
