Dunhelen

Mrs Francis Scuderi
Welcome
Welcome to Semester 2. I hope that students had a lovely break, despite the weather, and are ready to commence the second half of the year.
Student Reports
You will have received your child’s report over the break. If you have not already done so, please make the time to sit down with your child and go through it. Praising them for jobs well done or reflecting on areas for improvement is important. Also make the time to go through the ‘Approaches to Learning’ rubric with them as these skills are also important.
Lunchtime Assistance
A reminder that Homework Club and Maths Assist will run again this term to offer students time and guidance.
Semester 2 Class Captain Elections
We will be electing Semester 2 Class Captains soon and I encourage students to nominate themselves if they are looking to contribute more to school life. Thank you to all the Semester 1 Class Captains.
Punctuality
The increased traffic on Mickleham Road may mean that some students need to leave home a little earlier to get to school on time. Being punctual is a lifelong skill and working on this from school age is important. Students arriving late to school run the risk of missing important information and instruction. It is also disrupting for the students and teachers who have commenced their day. The school day starts at 8.45am. Students should be aiming to arrive at school from 8.30am in order to be well prepared for the day.
Term 3 Activities
This term, amongst a lot of other things, will see:
- Some students involved in the SSV sports and Gala days
- The Year 7 students having their second round of immunisations
- The Start Smart Financial Literacy Program continues for Year 8 and Year 9 students
- The Year 8 students attending City Experience
- All students involved in Book Week
- Select students involved in EngGirls
- Some students involved in Public Speaking
- Some students attending the Battle for Australia Commemoration Service
This is just a ‘taste’ of what is in store for Dunhelen. It will undoubtedly be another busy, yet enjoyable, term.
