Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 7 August (concluding at 6.00pm) and Thursday 16 August (concluding at 8.00pm). On each of these evenings interviews will commence at 3.30pm for parents of children in Prep to Year 6 and from 4.00pm for those in Year 7 to Year 12.

Research has shown that one of the factors that helps to protect children from risky behaviour later in life is a belief that parents and teachers are working together in the best interests of the child. One of the many ways parents can demonstrate this, in a manner which is tangible to the child, is by attending Parent Teacher Interviews. We also particularly encourage secondary students to attend these interviews with their parents, as participating in the dialogue with adults is known to be another protective factor for children.

Interview bookings open on Monday 30 July and are made through the Community Portal on the Aitken College home page.  Full details of how to use the booking system will be emailed to all parents when the booking system opens. A schedule of your interviews and room locations can be printed from the portal after you have made your appointments.

If you have any questions about the Parent Teacher Interviews, please email

2018 Independent Schools Victoria LEAD Parent Satisfaction Survey

Aitken College is taking part in the 2018 LEAD School Effectiveness Surveys. Your opinion is valuable to us and we would therefore like to invite you to participate in this Parent Satisfaction Survey. The aim of the survey is to understand your perceptions regarding the quality of your child’s educational experience with the school. The information obtained will be used to continue our efforts to improve the quality of our programs, and is an important part of our desire to better meet your children’s educational needs.

The survey is conducted by Independent Schools Victoria and is completely anonymous. The school receives only aggregate results.

The survey opens on Monday 30 July, when all parents and guardians will be emailed a survey link. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

We appreciate you taking the time to participate in this year’s Parent Satisfaction Survey. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about it.

2019 Subject Selection for Students in Years 7 to 11

Students in Years 7 to 11 will all be required to choose their elective subjects for 2019 in the coming weeks, using an online portal. Information about subject options and requirements and the process for accessing and using the online portal will be emailed to parents and students in due course.

Please take the time to discuss your child’s choices with him or her. One of the most important factors to consider is that academic success is most easily obtained when students are studying subjects they enjoy and feel passionate about. Please encourage your child to follow his or her areas of interest when considering their 2019 program.

It’s not unusual for students to feel overwhelmed when faced with making decisions about their future. If you or your child would like some extra help with the decision making, please contact the relevant Assistant Head of School (for Dunhelen students), Head of House (for Brookhill students), or our very obliging and well-informed Careers staff.

The portal for subject choices is open during the following dates:

  • Years 10 & 11    6 – 10 August
  • Year 7, 8 & 9     13 – 17 August
