Principal's Report

Term 1 Week 8

Even though we have had much uncertainty surrounding school closures and directives associated with the Covid 19 virus we are continuing to enjoy our last weeks of Term 1 with little disruptions. It is at your discretion to keep your child at home. If you feel this is what you need to do for you family we are putting systems in place to ensure your child/ren do not miss out. Please go to the following link for further information from the Education Department,

https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/department/Pages/coronavirus.aspx

Information on how we will deal with this unfolding situation will be sent home tomorrow, Friday. This information will include details on how we will operate and forward school work home to your children if the school does have to close for a period of time.

So far SAKG cooking program is continuing as per usual, as well as our gardening program, art, Italian and library. Proposed excursions to Myrrhee for a dance workshop and a visit to the fire station planned for next week have had to be cancelled, however we will have Al Sampson bringing the firetruck to the school instead so we can wrap up our learning unit on natural disasters and emergency services. The day and time of this visit is still to be advised however it will definitely go ahead next week.

In regards to school camps, we have been notified today that the Somers Camp is now cancelled. Unfortunately this cannot be rescheduled in the 2020 year. The students have been advised of this today. The year 3-4 Fifteen Mile Creek camp booked for May has currently been postponed. We will advise any updates in Term 2.

A reading party is also pencilled in for next Friday. However the students as a group need to reach that magical number of 425 nights of reading for this to occur. If this number is reached by next Wednesday then I will throw all the children a lunchtime party next Friday for lunch. In order for this to occur all children have to participate in our reading challenge. Currently we have a 301 nights of reading as our combined total. 124 nights to go!

Today we welcomed Kate White back to school after being on Maternity Leave. Kate is doing a few days with us while Rick is on Long Service Leave. Kate then returns back ongoing in the F-3 classroom 3 days a week from the start of Term 2. We have also had Hanna working the other days in the classroom while Rick is away which is great for the students having the consistency of teachers they know.

Once again if you have any queries about anything at all, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
