Novotel Hotels

Internationally acclaimed luxury hotel, the Novotel on Collins was host to some of our lucky students who had shown an interest in a hospitality career. Students were given the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the hotel for a taste of what it is like to work in the  Visitor Economy Industry.

Activities students participated in on the day include:

• A Hotel introduction and overview of the business including and the range of careers on offer in the industry.
• A tour of the front end of the hotel and back of house.
• Itinerary planning and anticipating guests needs with concierge staff.
• Restaurant and bar service including setting up for an event.
• Kitchen lunch preparation lead by Head Chef (students prepared and served their own lunch!)
• Room set up and preparation with Housekeeping staff.

The All Girls Can – Try A Trade

A group of students were lucky to participate in the AGA Trade Training Centre " Try a Trade" in Deer park this month.

The purpose of the event was to break down the barriers some female students might feel about pursuing a non traditional career in trade.  

Our group of students had shown an interest in pursuing a trade and had the ability but didn't know what the steps are to start a career in trade. 

At the end of the event our students were presented was a panel of women who shared stories and answered questions of the experience and journeys.
