NAIDOC WEEK & WINTER APPEAL
This Friday 5th July we will have a Whole School Mufti day. Students are encouraged to wear either Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Flag colours to school and bring a gold coin donation which will go towards our Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal.
ZERO WASTE WEEK
A huge thank you to all the families and classes that have really taken on Zero Waste Week this week at St Mary's. A particular Thank you to Mr Wittig for organising all of our bins.
So far this week students have been using compost bins for food scraps (which will be used on our veggie garden), recycle bins for paper rubbish (which will be disposed of correctly into the paper waste bins) and collecting any plastic bottles for Return and Earn money (which will go towards our winter appeal). Students have been encouraged to bring reusable containers or reusable plastics from home and take home any one use plastic items.
EARTH HOUR
On Thursday afternoon we will hold a St Mary's Earth Hour. We are encouraging each classroom to use no electricity, like heaters, lights, smartboards and chromebooks to reduce our print on the earth. Freya, Bridgett & Poppy (Year 6 Mini Vinnies Leaders)
During NAIDOC Week we have decided to hold the Zero Waste Week as a reminder for everyone to protect our land as the first Indigenous people did.
MINI VINNIES EXCURSION
Last Wednesday our Mini Vinnies group went to St Joseph's Uralla to meet up with other groups and our St Vincent De Paul representatives Michael O'Kane and Sophie Warner. The day was a great success learning about the importance of team work and the difference between our needs and wants.
GRAND FRIENDS MASS
Our Grand Friends Mass has moved to Friday 26th July at 9:15 for the Whole School. We warmly welcome our parents and grand friends to this special Mass which takes place during Marriage and Family Week.
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY WEEK 2019

As instructed by Bishop Kennedy, students will also participate in a specific lesson on the topic during RE lessons in the first week back.
