Classroom News - Year 6

Science

In Science Year 6 have been using electrical circuits to construct a toy or game appropriate for Stage 2 students to play. We have seen students make use of parallel, simple and series circuits to create their toys. The task has pushed students to think scientifically by identifying problems in their design, thinking of possible solutions and testing these solutions to ensure the toy works.

St Joseph's Cup

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been listening to fantastic recitals of poetry by students in Year 6.  The class has taken on board teacher direction about the manner, matter and method that is considered when marking their recital. The majority of students have been presenting entirely from memory or with very little assistance from palm cards.

Cold Write

Last week, students completed their Cold Writes which were in the form of an exposition with the theme ' A New Place Just For Kids'. This is an opportunity for students to show what they have learned over the term in literacy lessons. The structure is similar to that of their weekly Big Writes but without the over night parent talk involved in the Big Writes.
