TCC'S COVID 19 CHRONICLE

Learning@Home

Our students and their families are amazing and inspiring us as they embrace this new world of learning. A few snippets so far.

From Parents

One parent with three small primary children Learning@Home reported "it's pretty good, a bit of glare but otherwise my child is super engaged. She wants to do it all ASAP but I might try putting alarms on my phone to set up the day so they can be in a schedule".

From Teachers

Mrs Duffy reported "I had full attendance in my Advanced Maths class today courtesy of Microsoft                                                        Teams".

Mr Donaldson "I had lots of students in Year 9 Geography email photos of completed work and Year 10                                  Maths are asking questions via Schoolbox and email".

From Students

One of our lovely Year 11 students is putting her uniform on at home each day to help her stay focused.

Self Isolation

Thank you to all the families who have notified us that they are self isolating and adopting Learning@Home with their children. Remember resources are available for Kinder to Year 4 students at the Front Office. If you are keeping your children at home to self isolate and haven't notified the College, please do so by phone or email so we can record their attendance correctly.

Drink Bottles- Important message

From Friday 27th March the bubblers at the College will be turned off for hygiene reasons,

please ensure your child has a labelled drink bottle with them at school. This can be refilled during the day at our refill station.

Cooking a great educational opportunity

Cooking a meal with your child is a great way for younger children to explore lots of concepts, including mathematics, learning about their senses, working together, as well as helping them develop a more adventurous  palate.

For our Secondary students cooking also provides an opportunity to gain valuable life skills.

Try out this recipe from Mrs Green that our Year 9 and 10 students often make at school. It is healthy, budget friendly and the kids may learn something in the process.

Thank you our amazing teachers

Our dedicated teaching staff have been putting in long hours to adapt to the changes rapidly occurring in how we deliver education. Our Wellbeing Team blessed them yesterday with a lovely surprise.

Our IT manager Mr Fitzhardinge said " I’ve been very impressed with how teachers are embracing technology to deliver content in a way they never have before.

Many of them have even shown me things I’ve never seen done before."

A message from Mr Storrie, Head of Primary

Thank you for the support and encouragement you are giving us as we negotiate the current climate. The wonderful teachers at TCC remain committed to teaching and learning and are preparing work for home and for the students remaining at the College. It is exciting to see what continues to grow and develop out of the classrooms as teachers embrace new learning opportunities, especially with Schoolbox, our LMS (learning management system).

Pop Up Worship

Uncle Mick, Mrs Wright and Mr Fitz (and others) blessed students and staff with a Pop up worship spot at recess yesterday. Worshiping together to encourage and support the school community.

A message from our Bus Companies

BUSWAYS

Has introduced extra cleaning on buses and every bus will receive disinfectant treatment every day, including all regularly touched areas, such as hand rails, poles, seats and doors.

We have introduced additional procedures for all Busways employees to follow in order to limit any chance of the virus spreading. For example employees must wash their hands every time they enter and leave a worksite, cash handling will be minimised to avoid additional contact and employees have been advised to stay home if they are unwell.

EGGINS COMFORT COACHES

is required to follow any guidelines/recommendations that are set down by TFNSW (which are from Health NSW)

We are increasing our cleaning hours and procedures as per the recommendations recently handed down by TFNSW

Eggins Comfort Coaches will always try our best to go beyond any recommendations to ensure the safest possible environment for passengers, community and staff.

Our Mission Statement

Even in these changing circumstances we are striving to educate excellently, developing and nuturing our students in a dynamic, caring and creative way, while being a Christ-centred community.

Water Outage Today

MidCoast Council needed to turn off mains water this afternoon for emergency works. Fortunately we still had toilets running on grey water and 900 bottles of fresh water available for our students. Our water supply will be fully operational tomorrow.

If your Year 6 child would like to continue on at TCC for their Secondary schooling please ensure you have made your intentions clear about this to the College. You should have received an email from us, if you have not or have not responded please contact Rachael Birkefeld.
