Division Swimming

Division Swimming – Shepparton 2020

I participated in the 12/13 year old girls Freestyle 50m event at Division Swimming yesterday. I was very nervous before the race; there were so many girls who looked well-trained and this was my first competitive swim. As soon as I dived into the water, my nerves disappeared and I swam really well. I placed 4th out of 8 competitors. It was a great experience and I’d encourage others to try out for Division as well.

Two milliseconds is all that separated me from the girl in front! I swam in the 50m Freestyle for the 12/13 year old girls at Division in Shepparton. To be pushed out of the top three by such a small amount of time was really disappointing and I wished I’d pushed myself a tiny bit harder. But I walked away knowing I did my best. Division was exciting and nerve-wracking but it was so good to know I’d done my best and represented my school.

Swimming at Division in Shepparton yesterday was a great experience because I got to meet new people from other schools and swim. I swam in 12/13 year old boys 50m Freestyle and Breaststroke and came fourth in both races with a time of 43 seconds. I was really excited and nervous at the same time before I dived in but as I started the race, I calmed down. I couldn’t see any of my opponents during the race which made me worry – what if I was last?! At the end of the race, I felt relieved but a bit disappointed that I didn’t place in the top three, I was swimming second until almost at the end of the race. I was happy that I swam my best in my last Division Swimming competition representing Numurkah Primary.

The water was cool but the sun was blazing hot, so my first dive into the water was pretty good! I swam in the 12/13 year old boys 50m Freestyle Division competitions yesterday. The whistle blew and the starting gun banged and we were off. I swam as fast as I could until the end of the pool. This is the third time I’ve represented Numurkah Primary at Division and I’d encourage others to do it too because it’s such a good experience and you get to meet new people.

Yesterday I swam in the 12/13 year old boys 50m Freestyle at Shepparton. Swimming in front of a lot of people made me feel a bit nervous but I decided to just swim the race and do my best. I was swimming first in the race until I reached halfway and then finished in fourth position with a time of 41 seconds. Division was a good experience and a great way to challenge myself.

The first thing I saw at Division Swimming yesterday was people doing warm-ups, so I joined them. The 12/13 year old girls were called together to start race about 10:30. Lily, Bridget and I all lined up near starting blocks; my name was called first to go in the heats. I heard the starting gun and I dived in with a bit of a shock – that gun is scary! I placed fourth out of seven in the heat with a time of 50 seconds.

Nervous but ready for challenge - that’s how I felt as I dived into the water at Division yesterday. I came forth in my 9/10 year old boys 50m Freestyle race with a time of 49.65 seconds. I had a really fun day – any day with swimming in it has to be a good one!
