FINAL WEEKS
As we head towards the final weeks of the semester things are heating up in the Music Centre.
THE FORTNIGHT IN REVIEW
Congratulations to all students and staff involved in the Senior Ensemble Concert held on Wednesday 27 May. It was fantastic to hear the Symphonic Wind, Senior Singers, Ovenden Band, Senior Strings, Percussion Ensemble, Orchestra and the Senior Stage Band. Thank you to the teachers Su Rogerson, Blanka West, Tracy Videon, Adam Coad, Tony Brookes and Dmitry Serebrianik and to our Year 12 student Misha Machlak for developing the musicality of these ensembles. Thanks also to Martin West for being the MC for the evening.
The Munch then Music lunchtime concert series continued on Friday 29 May. Congratulations to the following students: Adam El Horri, Mimi Bernstein, William Hardy, James Hardy, Alice Duchesne, Phillip Li, Alexia Samiotis, Caitlin Cohen and Moran Zhou. The standard of performance was extraordinarily high and demonstrated a growing commitment to music making. Thank you also to George Inglis and Alexia Samiotis who hosted the concert.
ENSEMBLE REMINDERS
The main ensembles that run at McKinnon are Ovenden Band, Keenan Strings, Symphonic Wind, Orchestra and Choir. All music students, instrumentalist and elective are required to be in one of the main ensembles that are held at the school. Being a part of these ensembles helps develop group skills, aural work, sight-reading, widens their experience and musical style and often involves performing for community groups, other schools and functions within the school community. Rolls for these ensembles are marked on Compass and students are required to see the director of each ensemble if they miss a rehearsal or performance.
WELCOME
We welcome Ms Carolyn Jackson to the Music Department as a replacement teacher for Mr Stuart Cook until the end of term. Violin and Viola students are advised to check their schedules carefully.

FUTURE AMEB PERFORMANCE EXAMS
Any student who is interested in undertaking an AMEB performance exam this year should talk to their instrumental teacher over the next few weeks. Application forms will be available next week and need to be completed and submitted by the end of term.
Keep practising.
